Serena da Conceição is an Afro-Indigenous Brazilian and a white American (German/French) who is the co-founder of the WGA East's Latinx Writer's Salon.

A fashion industry survivor working through her PTSD by writing dark comedy and dramas, her work focuses on the Black experience, colorism, modern day slavery and cultural code-switching.

You know, the light stuff.

Serena is terrified of airplanes but travels in them regularly, which she believes says something deeply profound about her "essence."

A note on FASHION

Serena is/was a Capital D Designer: from running an independent namesake collection to putting out fashion fires for corporate mass market brands with weekly sales of $2 million. She “started from the bottom” then sold out for financial equity and real estate in Fort Greene.

She has guiltily partnered with: Social media monsters, trend traps, bitchy bosses, fast-fashion vampires and international manufacturing mastuhs. Her #worktrip stories alone could fill seasons or sequels.

Serena is/was/is? a video and stills stylist for Nike, Ilana Glazer, Tina Knowles, Refinery 29, Aparna Nancharla, Jo Firestone, Naomi Ekperigin,…

She designed a collection for Nicki Minaj at Kmart and lived to tell.
