Sometimes all it takes for a design to emerge is a small cutting of trim. And so was the case for a CONCEICAO leather bralette I designed. The trim: Elastic with a clear faggoting center.
Sometimes you wake up on the perfect side of the bed. A good day. I woke like this.
Strong, sophisticated and sexy like Donatella. Bold, creative and playful like MIA. Photo W magazine
I survived Charleston Fashion Week and came out more than unscathed. The week was full of new friends, networking opportunities and delicious Charleston cuisine.
A huge thank you to the fashion panel on Wednesday night for voting me a finalist and selecting CONCEICAO to show again on Saturday.

Skip to 1:24 and 6:10 to see the collection and my win.
The second CONCEICAO capsule went down the runway in Charleston. The fashion panel named me winner for the night (!) which means I will show twelve looks on Saturday night along with Christian Siriano. Here is the designer profile video.
This morning started off ever so relaxing with a 2 mile run in a woodsy trail just across the street from my hotel. I'm about 15 minutes from my final model fittings and line-up selection. I am especially excited to style 1 outfit to be shown to a fashion panel including Fern Mallis. The question is, to leather or not to leather? As I am unable to add images to this blog via iPad just yet I will be posting pics on Facebook and Twitter instead. Thanks everyone for getting me through Fall 2013!
I spent last weekend in Charleston, South Carolina attending preliminary meetings for Charleston Fashion Week.
The Post and Courier snapped myself, Kass Ishmael and Josh Ratliff at the CFW party. Charleston's City Paper wrote about it HERE.
Everyone has knick knacks. New Yorkers have tchotchkes. This post is dedicated to one of them.
My father brought this sassy geisha back from his first trip to Japan in the 80s (70s?) She decorates my studio and reminds me to re-apply lipstick.
Not many things make me happier than to worship at the church of craft especially when the project becomes a gift.
This project had my creative brain doing pirouettes over learning to decoupage an homage to my friend MDJ and his sons. Flynn into Everett into Matt. Laura and Punkin were the missing crucial players here which is fine for now as it only means there is Mod Podge in my future.
My assistant Timmy Johnson and I spent last weekend styling a punk rock dancer shoot with photographer Colin Berg on a Williamsburg rooftop. FUN!

I hand top stitched this white leather top while in my early twenties. Putting all those eyelets in gave me blisters. Here it is featured in La Garet magazine. Pour one out for my dead Singer Futura II model 920.
Christina of DeSmitten asked me to join her in a beginner slab style pottery class. Now I have a ceramic cuff that will last ohhhhhhh about thirty seconds after before dramastically crashing to the ground in powdery white shards. One can only hope for at least one compliment before touch down. On the other hand, DeSmet's organic vase is elegant and functional.
Who says you can't take it down a notch (or two or twelve) and take a nap in the middle of this great big NYC? Certainly not these brave souls who zonked it out in Bryant park this afternoon. It looked so peaceful I took a stab at it in a No.6 dress, Bliss Lau body chain worn as belt and vintage Bruno Magli brogues. All photos by SdC
Red Lipstick is my new bag. And due to laziness in re-applying it is also my new diet.
Eat less. Smudge Less.
I made it past ten thousand entries, three rounds of interviews (two of them taped) and two episodes of Project Runway Season IF you include the hour long pre-first episode. I DO include it as this is where my band with Laura Seymour, Yum Yum Tim Gunn, had it's fifteen seconds of fame.
The win was not for me and I humbly accept not being cut out for high stakes televised drama. The experience has left me no less of a PR fan. Getting to be on the other side of the competition was thrilling, each moment completely new.
Thank you to family and friends who supported me and even to people who thought I sucked because at least you thought of me. xo
